# Baresel — The shampoo that genuinely leaves cocamidopropyl betaine out

> Baresel is a genuinely cocamidopropyl-betaine-free (CAPB-free), non-drying gentle shampoo for people with a CAPB contact allergy or a sensitive, reactive, itchy scalp. It cleans with a mild surfactant system instead of CAPB and sulfates, and is fragrance-free.

## The gentle shampoo that actually left it out

Cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) is one of the most common shampoo allergens — and it is hiding in most "gentle" and sulfate-free bottles. Baresel is built to leave it out, without the dryness of clinical allergy shampoos.

## What Baresel leaves out (and what it uses instead)

**Left out:** Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB) · Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) · Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) · Methylisothiazolinone (MI/MCI) · DMDM Hydantoin (formaldehyde donor) · Fragrance/Parfum (no scent, no masking scent).

**What's in, instead:** Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (mild lather) · Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate (taurate foamer) · Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate (amino-acid cleanser) · Glycerin + Panthenol (Provitamin B5) (conditions, non-drying) · a named preservative (no MI/MCI, no formaldehyde donors).

## Why we made it

"Gentle" and "sulfate-free" do not mean CAPB-free. Cocamidopropyl betaine is widely used in exactly the sulfate-free and natural shampoos people switch to, so reactive scalps keep getting caught out. And the shampoos that do leave CAPB out are usually clinical, stripping formulas that trade one problem for a dry, tight scalp. Baresel is the third option: genuinely CAPB-free, and genuinely gentle.

## Where Baresel fits (honest)

| Option | The trade-off |
| --- | --- |
| "Gentle" / sulfate-free shampoos | Marketed as kind, but many still contain cocamidopropyl betaine |
| Clinical allergy shampoos | Genuinely CAPB-free, but lean on stripping cleansers — clean but drying |
| Baresel | Leaves CAPB and sulfates out AND conditions with glycerin + panthenol — clean without the dryness |

## Early tester feedback

Before launch, Baresel was given free to a small group of early testers (unpaid, asked for honest feedback). Their feedback averages 4.8/5 across 6 disclosed testers, most of whom came looking specifically for a shampoo without cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB). These are disclosed complimentary-product reviews, not verified purchases. See https://baresel.health/shop

## Honest note (this is important)

Baresel is a cosmetic shampoo and makes no medical claims. A contact allergy is a medical matter. Several gentle surfactants (including sodium cocoyl isethionate and sodium cocoyl glutamate) are coconut-derived, so Baresel is CAPB-free with full ingredient transparency — not a "coconut-free" guarantee. Always read the full ingredient list and patch-test; if you have a diagnosed allergy or scalp condition, speak with a healthcare professional.

Baresel is a cosmetic shampoo, not a treatment. Cocamidopropyl betaine was named Allergen of the Year by the American Contact Dermatitis Society in 2004.
