Why $22?
You're paying for a formula that leaves out both common surfactant allergen families — CAPB and the alkyl glucosides — and cleans on a pricier amino-acid, isethionate and taurate base, plus a humectant (glycerin), provitamin B5 (panthenol) and a conditioning agent, all checkable on the INCI. I've been trying to avoid CAPB for a while, and it's honestly annoying how many shampoos have it. I've used this one for about a week and so far I really like it — hair feels clean, no weird residue.
The main reason I wanted to try it was that it's CAPB-free. I was a little worried it wouldn't lather properly, but it actually does. It feels basically like a normal shampoo, just without the ingredient I'm trying to avoid.
I check shampoo labels way more than I'd like to admit 😂 Cocamidopropyl betaine is in almost everything. This one was just easy — used it, liked it, didn't have to overthink the ingredients.
I've been using it for a couple of weeks now. It took me maybe 2–3 washes to get used to it because my old shampoo was much more scented. But it cleans well and my hair feels good after. Would use again.
I've tried a few shampoos that don't have CAPB, and some of them made my hair feel kind of dry or just didn't clean that well. I didn't have that problem with this one. Pretty impressed, tbh.
Honestly, I just wanted something without CAPB that didn't feel like a medical shampoo. This is probably the first one I've tried where I don't really notice a difference from using a regular shampoo — in a good way.

Yes — Baresel is built to explicitly leave CAPB out — along with the whole betaine family and the alkyl glucosides — and the full ingredient list is published so you can check it against a known allergy. It also leaves out sulfates and the harsh preservatives (MI/MCI, formaldehyde donors) reactive scalps often react to.
I react to coconut — is that a problem?
It can be. CAPB is coconut-derived, and so are some of the gentle cleansers here (sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium cocoyl glutamate). So Baresel is CAPB-free, not a coconut-free guarantee. Read the full list and patch-test.
